Our Story

Bonsai Blue Garden Market

With the right guidance and materials, we believe anyone can be a gardener. In fact, we support that everyone should be a gardener … because what’s better than garden-fresh produce served on your dinner table? At Bonsai Blue, we make it possible for anyone and everyone to grow lush, nutritious produce right in their own backyards. We offer a slew of seedlings and plant starts to jump-start your growing season. And before you leave with a green guy in hand, we’re happy to share our best tips for growing strong, robust plants in our sometimes-stubborn Nevada climate.

And if you’re not the grow-it-yourself type, our Garden Market has plenty to share, taste, and experience for anyone. Come by and spend a slice of your summer afternoon with us, walking through our garden displays, browsing local market vendors, and sampling farm-fresh selections.

Bon·sai

/bänˈsī,ˈbänˌsī/ verb

Translated to "tray gardening" in Japanese; tray gardening explains the process of growing trees and plants, while keeping them small and pristine with careful care; an art that requires careful attention and specialized growing.

Lush plants and produce are grown with special care and attention, something every seed and sprout gets, both on the farm and on the garden grounds here at Bonsai Blue.

The History of the Yamamoto Family

We’ve been here a long time, over 60 years and 5 generations to be exact. Since 1957, the Yamamoto Family has been growing locally sourced ingredients for Nevada restaurants, chefs, and families to cook up and gather around. Sod, Asian-variety vegetables, and, what brought us here in the first place, garlic, has thrived on the Yamamoto Farm for decades. We know this area, we know how to work our green thumbs here, and it’s an honor to grow so many lush plants, fruits, and vegetables for the state we’ve made our home.
